Week Five: Kindness

Kylie Voight

Kindness is so greatly important in today's world, where it is so rare to find. We need to be spreading kindness every chance we get. Galatians 6:10 says, "Therefore, as we have every opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially those who belong to the family of believers" (NIV). We are called and commanded to be kind to EVERYONE. It's a challenging command to follow, but it is a necessary part of being a disciple and sharing the gospel. If we aren't kind, we won't earn a voice in the lives of others and they won't listen to us when we tell them about Jesus.

In a podcast, I heard Sadie Robertson say something along the lines of, "You aren't kind to others because they are kind to you. You are kind because it is simply who you are." I loved when she said that because so often we offer kindness to others, but only when they've offered kindness to us first. That's so backward. We need to be the ones granting kindness first, regardless of how others have been towards us.

My challenge to you is to choose kindness as your first reaction to everything this week. Ask God to give you the capacity to be kind towards others. Lean on the Holy Spirit to work through you to produce His good fruit in your life.

Keep treating others with kindness this week!

Show God’s love through being kind.

Relentless kindness is contagious. Being relentless with your kindness is powerful and it can only be that powerful and moving in this world when it is constant and not occasional.

“If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
Romans 12:18

Intentional kindness does not require much but can change so much. In the world we live in kindness comes and goes by many but when you stick to it and spread kindness with meaning it can change anything and everything.

Jesus demonstrated impeccable kindness when on the cross dying for our sins. In those final hours of unimaginable pain he suffered through he used that time to bring another person into the kingdom regardless if they were guilty. He cares that much and that was His way of relentless kindness.

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the whole earth. He never becomes faint or weary; there is no limit to his understanding.”
Isaiah 40:28

In order to show the amount of kindness needed you need help, the Lord is there to help you create a movement. This is so powerful and should be eye-opening as if you attempt this on your own the result will be a failure. The Holy Spirit is there to help you extend the kindness.
