God Is... Gracious

"The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.”
Psalms 116:5

God’s grace is a gift that is free to us, it is “undeserved.” He does use our wrongdoings to hold us away from his love. He gives us all goodness freely and this shows that he is gracious to us.

Gracious is often used to describe kindness or gentle. We often use it to describe how we may have handled a situation. Like the teacher was gracious when a student made a mistake.
God describes his own character as gracious but towards all humans, not just certain “good” ones.

We each our sinners, who are separated from him. God’s grace is a characteristic that heals us and frees us from our own corruption. He gives out of his own goodness.

God showed this in Exodus 34:6-7– “And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.””
When he set the Israelites free from slavery, when we can recognize the stories of his grace. This is also a story that shows we can trust that he will use his graciousness towards us, even if it is undeserved.

Have you shown grace by forgiving others? Have you shown grace by being understanding? Or being kind to people you see?

I hope and pray this week is amazing! Find ways to be gracious to others!
