Week Nine: Self Control
2 Corinthians 10:5 tells us we need to take every thought and use it to be obedient to Christ. The temptations in our minds do not own us. Use your thoughts for truth and obedience.
“Because temptations make promises they never will fulfill, we can examine the false promises and hold them up to the light.”
Temptations can only bring momentary fulfillment but Christ alone brings eternal fulfillment.
Richard L. Ganz says there is 6 ways to take your thoughts captive:
- Accept responsibility
- Your mind and behavior must change
- Think through problems, don’t just react
- Disable your thoughts through confession
- Choose to focus on what’s right and moral.
- Remind yourself, it is possible.
Friend, because of you’re saved through Christ, you are no longer a slave to your sin. You are free because of him. What more could we ask for.
Today, I pray you remember who you are in Christ and you remember fulfillment is found in Jesus. Walk in the word, not with the world.
Happy Tuesday!
