Love is… Patient

Love is… PATIENT!

Hey everyone!

The She-Brews crew hopes your holidays were spent well with family, resting, and remembering the amazing gift of the birth of Christ. We are so excited to start this new year off with a new series all about love!

Love is so important and needed in this world. John writes in 1 John 4:8 that God is love itself. In order to truly love, we need to know God. Not know about God or who He is (although those are important too) but KNOWING God personally is so different that knowing about Him. Loving God is the first and greatest commandment that we are called to follow.

Love is important between you and God, but it's also important in our relationships with others. John also writes this: "By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another" (John 13:35 ESV). We are called to love others. It's the second greatest commandment that we are called to follow.

In 1 Corinthians, Paul writes that love is patient. This means love is slow to anger. It is able to withstand difficulties, trials, and suffering without becoming annoyed, anxious, or irritated.

I challenge you to meditate on what it means for love to be patient and how you can display that patience and you bear love. I also challenge you to spend time in prayer and with the Lord, asking Him to reveal areas of your life where your lacking patience and asking Him to give you the strength to become patient in those areas. May God bless your week with opportunities to grow your patience.
