God Is… Just

God Is…Just

God is just. And it’s a blessing that He is! Scripture tells us over and over again about His justice. Colossians 3:25 says, “For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.” God will punish those who have done wrong. This sounds sad and scary but really it's meant to provide comfort. See, we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and the wages of that sin is death. But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. By doing so, He paid the cost of our sins and gave us the gift of eternal life. To get this eternal life, one must be saved and Paul tells us that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Being saved means that God no longer sees you as a sinner and wrongdoer; He now sees you as a child of His. He will punish those who haven't repented of their sins but for those of us who have, we get to live in the freedom of God's grace and mercy.

The fact that God is just is such a blessing because it means we don’t have to be. We don’t have to ensure that people suffer the consequences of their actions. We get to leave that up to God and love on the people around us no matter what. In 1 Thessalonians 5:15, Paul tells us this: “See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone.” Authority to repay evil belongs to the Lord, not us, and we can be confident that He will do so when the time is right because of His repeated promise in scripture.

Praying that God will fill you up this week so that you will always seek to do good to those around you. Actively choose to NOT repay evil for evil and instead do good. Allow God to work in you so that your own heart is changed and you can have an impact on those God has placed in your life. May God bless in you doing this🤍
