God Is... Omniscient

This week, we’re digging into the fact that God is omniscient. This is a big fancy word that simply means knowing everything. God knows everything. I know we hear this over and over again but take a moment to soak in what this means. God knows EVERYTHING. He knows how trees turn carbon dioxide into oxygen. He knows how a woman’s body works to create a baby. He knows the thoughts of the 8 billion people in the world (and the thoughts of the billions of people who lived before us). He knows what’s going on deep down in your heart, things you yourself may not even know are going on. Hebrews 4:13 says, “And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” He knows even the darkest parts of you that you hide from everyone else and yet, He still loves you. It is almost impossible to be fully known and fully loved yet that’s exactly what God’s unconditional love is for us. There’s absolutely nothing we have done to earn it and absolutely nothing we could do to lose it.

It’s absolutely crazy that we have a God that is both omniscient and madly in love with His people. He is so in love with us that He traded His crown for a cross and willingly died to pay the cost of our sins. We were on death row until He traded places with us so that we could be free. Paul writes about God’s love in Romans 8 saying, “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Rest in the knowledge of God’s omniscience. Normally it’s scary to have someone know every single thing about us. With God, it’s actually a comfort because we know we can’t lose His love. Meditate on this, rest in this, and spend time being vulnerable with your Father because He already knows what you’re going to tell Him.
